ASU ART CLUB Class of 1988 reunion:

November 15, 2008

12 p.m. until?

Amy Funderburk, Clark Whittington and I (Mike Hill) are getting the ball rolling toward a neat reunion project for our friends and colleagues from back in the class of 1988-ish days.

Here's the scoop as things stand right now, we're going to have a little retro-get-together a-la the old art club "pig out" days (except now with vegetarian options) on Saturday November 15 at
artpurveyors.com's new campus on highway 105 south in Foscoe. We're going to keep things simple, and order in a bunch of pizzas and just have an informal lunch "pot luck" thing where we can all catch up after 20 years. Just like in the good old days, B.Y.O.B., and anything else you want to. There's been talk
of a bring your own easel and sample artwork to show, which would be cool too!

...and if you're in this picture but haven't heard from any of us yet, we need you to check in with us!! All A.S.U. art students from the late eighties are cordially invited to a reunion at artpurveyors' new world headquarters in Foscoe N.C. The schedule of events so far is as follows:

Possible ASU Art Department Tour around 10 a.m.: Marilyn Smith (the current chair of the art department) is willing to arrange for a tour of the art department for anyone who wants to revisit their old locker or studio space...she wanted to know which faculty members anyone would like to have as their "tour guide", so send in your suggestions.

Jamie McLendon's band is not going to make it, but Jamie McLendon will be signing autographs on the lido deck from 1-3.

Amy Funderburk wants to curate an art exhibit of any submissions from the "gang"...nothing formal, we'll just hang one or two pieces per attendee, if anyone wants to show their work at all. Come with art in hand, come artless...just show up!

Screening of Marty Hollingsworth's video featuring most of us talking about our future plans from 1988.

Lunch: pizzas and soft drinks will be available, plus any 'pot luck' covered dishes anyone wants to bring.

50% off storewide( in store purchases only) for class of 1988-ish reunion attendees

free Giclee publishing prepress packages for class of 1988-ish reunion attendees
from wildflowerspublishing.com

"buddy bags" of art supply samples.

Anything else anybody wants or needs, we will do our best to accommodate...I'll
look into some room rates at nearby motels and rental agencies, and let everybody know, if there's anybody wanting to stay on for a day or three. Please tell anyone you know of from back in the day to come too.
Here are some people we are still looking for: Susan Gilliland, Tammy Benge, Jill Harmon, Kelly Anderson, Steve Parrrish, Thad Wilkes, Steve Blevens, Bobby Rader, Mike Norman

There's also a home football game, but only grass seats are left due to a stadium sellout for the entire season (GO APPS!)

Save the date and join us in the mountains! It's been too long since we were all together in one room. RSVP to me (Mike Hill) at (800) 861-DRAW, or at mike@artpurveyors.com. RSVP to Clark Whittington at clark@artomat.org.

Also, I'm going to publish a contact sheet for everyone who wants to participate, so maybe we don't lose touch for another 20 years...if you can't make it, send your information anyway, so we can communicate.

updates will be posted as they become available.

We're "Ker-Plunking" culture daily here with our ART-O-MAT machine!

This puts us in some pretty prestigious company; to name a few: the Andy Warhol Museum and the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, along with the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts at A.S.U. and Gamekeeper Restaurant, which also happen to be here in the high country.
